Understanding Your AI Visibility Score
A breakdown of how the AI visibility score works, what the numbers mean, and how to use your report to take action.
What the score measures
Your AI visibility score answers a simple question: when customers ask AI tools about your category and location, how often does your business get mentioned?
We generate a set of queries that real customers would ask — things like “best [your category] in [your city]” or “affordable [your category] near me.” Then we send those queries to multiple AI answer engines and analyze the responses.
How the score is calculated
The score is a percentage from 0 to 100, based on how many AI responses mention your business out of the total queries tested. Here’s a rough guide:
- 0–20: Low visibility. AI engines rarely or never mention you. This is common for businesses that are new, have a thin online presence, or operate in competitive categories.
- 21–50: Moderate visibility. You show up in some queries but not consistently. There’s significant room to improve.
- 51–80: Good visibility. AI engines mention you frequently. Focus on the specific queries where you’re missing and the competitors who appear instead.
- 81–100: Excellent visibility. AI engines consistently recommend you. Maintain your online presence and watch for changes over time.
What’s in the full report
Beyond the headline score, your report includes several useful details:
- Per-query breakdown: See exactly which questions resulted in a mention and which didn’t. This helps you understand where your strengths and gaps are.
- Competitor analysis: See which businesses the AI recommends instead of (or alongside) yours. This is competitive intelligence you can’t get from traditional SEO tools.
- AI engine comparison: Different AI tools may give different answers. Your report shows results across multiple engines so you can see where you perform best and worst.
- Actionable recommendations: Based on your results, we suggest specific steps to improve your visibility — from updating your Google Business Profile to creating content that answers common customer questions.
How to use the score
The score is most useful as a baseline and a trend. Run your first scan to see where you stand today. Then make improvements — update your listings, publish content, gather reviews — and scan again to measure progress.
AI models change over time, so even if you don’t change anything, your score might shift. Regular monitoring helps you catch drops early and stay ahead of competitors.
Comparing across businesses
Scores aren’t directly comparable across different categories or locations. A score of 60 for a dentist in a small town means something different from a score of 60 for a restaurant in New York City. The competitive density, number of queries, and AI behavior all vary. Compare your score to your own history and to the competitors shown in your report.
